JD Asbestos Removal Privacy Policy

JD Asbestos Removal website and services

This policy explains how JD Asbestos Removal collects, uses, stores and shares personal information when you visit jdasbestosremoval.com, contact us, request a quote, arrange an inspection or service, or otherwise deal with us.

1. Who we are and how to contact us

“JD Asbestos Removal”, “JD”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean JD Trading Pty Ltd (ABN 80 645 042 879), trading as JD Asbestos Removal. We are based in Dandenong, Victoria, and serve Melbourne and selected Victorian areas.

JD provides WorkSafe Victoria-licensed Class B asbestos removal services and undertakes non-friable asbestos-containing material removal only. We consider residential, commercial and industrial projects of any size, including large-scale work, subject to the material, site conditions, licence conditions, regulatory requirements and a project-specific assessment. We do not offer friable asbestos removal.

For suitable removal work, our service includes controlled handling and secure packaging, transport and disposal of asbestos waste at an appropriately authorised facility, with job and disposal records kept as required. Where required for a job, we also coordinate notices to neighbours, occupants, site contacts or other affected people. These arrangements depend on the site, project and applicable requirements.

For privacy questions, access or correction requests, or complaints, contact our Privacy Contact:

Please include “Privacy” in the subject line of an email so we can direct it to the right person.

2. What personal information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you interact with us. It may include:

  • Identity and contact details such as your name, business name, email address, telephone number and preferred contact method.
  • Property and project details you provide, including the property address or suburb, postcode, property type, the material you are concerned about, the work planned, access details, timing and other information needed to assess whether a service is suitable.
  • Information in quote requests, messages, emails and calls, including the content of your communications and our notes about follow-up, assessment, pricing and service decisions.
  • Photographs, plans, reports and other files you choose to send. These may show a property, belongings, people, documents or location metadata. Please avoid sending images or information about other people unless you have authority to do so.
  • Information needed to provide services and administer a customer relationship, such as quote, contract, job, invoice, payment status, site access, service history and feedback information.
  • Business contact information for builders, property managers, owners corporations, suppliers, contractors and other people acting for an organisation.
  • Where needed to coordinate work or notices, names and contact details for neighbours, occupants, site representatives, building managers or other affected people, together with notice dates and related communications.
  • Work and compliance records, which may include WorkSafe job notification details, work-area and site coordination notes, waste transport and disposal records, facility receipts, and completion or clearance documents where applicable.
  • Website and device information such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referral source, approximate location, timestamps, cookie identifiers and interactions with our website or advertisements, where collected through logs, cookies or analytics technologies.
  • Information you choose to provide in a complaint, job application, supplier enquiry or other communication with us.

We do not ask you to provide sensitive information, such as health information, unless it is reasonably necessary for a specific purpose and the law permits or requires its collection. Do not include health, identity-document or other sensitive details in a quote form unless we explain why they are needed.

If you provide us with personal information about another person, you must have authority to do so and should make them aware of this policy where appropriate.

We will not use personal information for a materially different purpose unless the law permits or requires it, or you have been informed and have consented where consent is required.

5. Website cookies, analytics and advertising

Our website and service providers may use cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies to make the website work, remember preferences, protect forms, understand site usage and measure advertising. These technologies may collect device and browsing information, such as pages visited, approximate location, referral source, ad interactions and a cookie or advertising identifier.

Where enabled on our website, these technologies may include Google Analytics, Google Ads conversion measurement, Google Tag Manager or similar services. These providers may use information collected through their tools under their own privacy terms. We use the resulting reports to measure website and advertising performance and improve our communications. We do not intend to use website analytics to identify you by name.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings and, where offered, through cookie preferences on our website. Blocking some cookies may affect site functions. If we use advertising pixels or remarketing, those tools may help show JD advertisements to people who have visited our website or interacted with our content. You may also be able to manage ad personalisation through the relevant advertising platform settings.

6. Marketing and your choices

We may use your contact details to send information about our services, updates or offers where permitted by law. We will not treat a request for a quote as consent to receive unrelated ongoing marketing. If we send marketing by email or SMS, the message will identify us and include a simple way to unsubscribe. You may opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link, replying “STOP” where available, or emailing info@jdasbestosremoval.com. We will continue to send service, quote, safety, payment or legal messages that are not marketing.

If you opt out of marketing, we may retain a suppression record containing limited contact information so we can respect your preference.

  • government agencies, regulators, law enforcement bodies, courts or other people where required or authorised by law, or where necessary to protect safety, rights or property; and
  • a proposed or actual purchaser, investor or successor in connection with a business sale or restructure, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal protections.

We do not sell personal information as a standalone product. We require service providers handling information for us to use it only for authorised purposes and to protect it appropriately, subject to their role and applicable law.

8. Overseas handling

Some providers may store, process or access information from outside Australia, depending on the systems and support arrangements used. Our current overseas recipient countries are: [CONFIRM AND INSERT COUNTRIES AFTER CHECKING ALL PROVIDERS].

Where the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) applies and we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we will take the steps required by applicable privacy law. An overseas recipient may be subject to privacy laws that differ from Australian law.

9. Security and data breaches

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps may include limiting access to people who need the information, using suitable account and system protections, maintaining service-provider controls, and securely disposing of information when no longer needed. No website, email or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

If we become aware of a suspected data breach, we will assess and respond to it. Where the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme or another law applies and the relevant notification threshold is met, we will notify affected people and the regulator as required.

10. How long we keep personal information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including to respond to enquiries, provide services, maintain business and financial records, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and protect our legal interests. Retention periods depend on the type of information and why it was collected. When information is no longer needed and we are not required to retain it, we take reasonable steps to securely destroy or de-identify it.

11. Access and correction

You may ask us whether we hold personal information about you and request access to it or correction if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Contact info@jdasbestosremoval.com with “Privacy access request” or “Privacy correction request” in the subject line. Tell us what information you are seeking or what needs correction. We may need to verify your identity and authority before responding, and may ask you to narrow a broad request. We will respond within a reasonable period and explain any decision to refuse access or correction, including complaint options, where the law requires.

16. Privacy law

JD aims to handle personal information in a transparent and responsible way. Where the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) applies to us, this policy is intended to describe our handling of personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles. Some small businesses may be exempt from the Privacy Act, while exceptions apply to some types of small businesses. Whether the Act covers JD depends on its legal status, activities and circumstances. We will still handle information in accordance with this policy and any other laws that apply to us.
